Puerto Banùs is a marina in Marbella. Built by José Banús, the port was inaugurated in 1970. In the 1990s, under great protest from environmentalists, the harbor was extended by the mayor Jesús Gil with some buildings. Today, the port is the meeting place of a wealthy clientele. The mooring fee is partly over 500,000 euros per berth and year. The largest berths are up to 50 meters long. The restaurants and stores to be found in the port are accordingly located in the upper price range. Furthermore, the marina of Marbella represents the center of the nightlife of the Costa del Sol . Wealthy of many nations have moorings here.
